Faith Aloud Mourns the Murder of Dr. George Tiller
May 31, 2009
Abortion Provider Dr. George Tiller was murdered by a gunman who shot him point-blank while he was ushering in services at Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas. His wife, Jeanne, watched in horror from the choir loft.
The clergy and members of Faith Aloud mourn the loss of this courageous, dedicated, and religious man. He and his clinic had been the victim of violence many times before, yet he continued to provide women with desperately needed care. As one of the few providers in the country for third trimester abortions, Dr. Tiller served many women who had planned pregnancies that had gone wrong. He was deeply religious and his services to women and families at his clinic included the guidance of a chaplain.
"Dr. Tiller taught me so much about the spiritual concerns of his patients," said the Reverend Rebecca Turner, Executive Director of Faith Aloud. "He was a kind, compassionate man who respected women and listened to them. America cannot tolerate this kind of domestic terrorism. We must put an end to the hostile rhetoric that fuels this kind of violence. We must hold people accountable who bully women on the sidewalks of abortion clinics. There is nothing "pro-life" about murder and nothing "Christian" about the hatred that fuels it. My heart goes out to abortion providers all over our country who share in this tragedy."
Faith Aloud is an interfaith organization that supports women in all their decisions concerning problem pregnancies.

Provoked by the irrational, ignorant rhetoric of the anti-reproductive rights agenda.

I totally agree that this murder was very wrong, but I still disagree with abortion. There needs to be a PEACEFUL way that people that oppose abortion can protest it. We ALL have a freedom of peaceful speech in this great country of ours.

Jason, adoption is an alternative to parenting. Abortion is an alternative to pregnancy. I'm glad you are permitted to make a choice that works for you.

I used to believe in abortion as the right thing to do but I see life in a new way now. I Just recently adopted out my son to a family that is absolutely wonderful and best of all. They consider us a family and we talk to each other and visit on occasion. I love how they raise him and that they are willing to let us be a part of that. Abortion is a temporary solution for a permanent problem. There are alternatives that are great and I love that I have brought life and life more abundantly for the people my wife and I have blessed with our son. Help other to get what they want and you can have what you want.
There was an article about a nine year old girl in Brazil that her rape and her pregnancy involved her life at stake is utterly disgraceful on the offenders part but note it is not just happening there, it is happening all over the world. I have herd of cases where Here in the USA there are people being held as slaves serving companies and servants. This world is far from perfect but in my belief abortion is wrong. You make examples of the people who commit such acts like rape by throwing them in a hole and leave them there to die with no food, for death by starvation is worse than being shot or stabbed and total loss of blood. And then let known to the country that this is how we deal with rapists.
Gosh how evil we Humans can be to one another.

FetusVoice: Rubbish. You are trying to rationalize his actions, but Roeder wasn't "provoked", he WANTED to shoot Tiller down. He planned to do this, pre-meditation of this sort is not the work of a "weak mind". Pro-life groups can't scramble away from Roeder fast enough and it's enough to make a cat laugh. Plus, blaming Tiller for Roeder's actions is little short of despicable, oh heck, demonizing Tiller IS despicable.

"a weak minded person who was provoked into feeling that he had to act in a criminal manner." Provoked by the irrational, ignorant rhetoric of the anti-reproductive rights agenda.

"Every patriotic American mourns the passing of a national hero."
You are calling the murderer of human life a "National Hero"?
Tiller is no different from the person who murdered him, except for the fact that Tiller was a mass murderer. Also, Tiller made an extreme effort to commit his murders for over two decades while Scott Roeder was a weak minded person who was provoked into feeling that he had to act in a criminal manner.
